Whatta ya know: I've been tagged again by eb the celeb

Just so you know I'm not narcissistic or anything like that. I'm just trying to be a good blogger and do whatever anonymous people tell me to do. I've been tagged by my home girl eb the celeb to give seven more random facts about myself. So here we go.
#1 I can't stand anything on BET except for "Sunday's Best!"

I'm not even into church or religion but I like watching this show because my people's watch BET 24/7 and this is the only show that all of us can actually watch together (they hate lectures).
#2 I'm a candy hollic!

Oh God! When I see candy I just have to devour it! I can eat a pack of starbursts in 3 minutes. I need therapy for real.
#3 I'm not a big fan of "The Wire."
It's amazing how black women were sad to death when they killed off Stirnger Bell (Idris Alba). I can't believe some women were actually crying. LOL! But anyway, I watched the first 3 seasons and some of the scenes were filmed on the street I grew up on, but I'm not a big fan because I think that The Wire negatively paints the whole city with the same brush. Don't get me wrong, many of the things in the wire I lived through and saw with my own 2 eyes in some instances, but the whole city isn't like that. Yes the secretive down low stuff is more interesting, but how about we go into some uppity neighborhoods and display their dirty laundry before the world.

#4 I want to be one of the leading experts on improving black relationships!

I've read a lot of books and listened to a lot of material on relationships but I haven't seen many that fit our particular needs and tell things from our unique perspective. I plan to produce an audio book, at the end of this month, that's basically a how to manual for black couples in the 21st century (you should pick it up for yourself or anyone who needs it). It will also make a great birthday gift or Valentine's day gift too (kill me for a little self promoting). Eventually I'll do seminars, lectures and all that in the future.

#5 I'm obsessed with my ex!

I can't help it. After 22 years she was the first woman I ever loved! While I've dated others since then, whenever I think of the happiest moments in my life, some of the most recent ones were spent with her. I'm getting over it, but, sometimes I think about the times we had.

#6 I sang Stevie Wonder's "You and I" at my sister's wedding!

The most embarrassing shit! I grew up in the church singing on the choir (I had to sing because my grandfather was the paster and his children and grandchildren were the only ones who came). I actually took a singing class in college to learn how to sing better. At the time, however, I was smoking and I didn't believe that I could sing very well. She insisted that I do though so I did it, and I wish I could burn the tape of that incident. It was really bad! I was so bad that I apologized at the end of the song. I don't think she'll ever forgive me for that, but she insisted!

#7 I like to look at myself naked in the mirror sometimes!

I know I'm not the only one who likes doing this. Don't try to act like you don't! It's good therapy actually because if you can accept the imperfections of your body you are on the road to good mental health! Sometimes I say "I love you man" just to make myself feel better. I hug myself sometimes too.

Now I have to tag Seven people. I tag eb the celeb (now), trecia, a woman undeniable, desperate lady, lindawe, gerald and tai (how's it taste). Now you all have to tag three more and tell 7 random things about yourself. Peace!

stop settling for less in your relationships. you have the power to change your partner for the better. if you have an open mind don't be afraid to click here to learn more.

Hilarious post.

Interesting on the wire. I'm from Maryland--Prince George's though. I love The Wire, but I TOTALLY understand. From watching the show, you would think that nothing good comes from Baltimore, MD and it's ALL hood. With that said, I think it's a compelling drama.

The song You & I used to bring tears to my eyes...which brings me to an ex-girl of mines who I swear I will love forever.

Good luck on the manual speaking about Black Relationships.

And I am a HUGE fan of The Wire. It contains excellent writing. Solid acting too.

I, too have been anti-BET for quite sometime. I can't name any of their programming. Except maybe Lift Every Voice and Comicview. And I too am obsessed with candy. It's insane because I've never had a cavity. Never watched The Wire and wow....lovin' yourself naked is a beautiful thang.

Have you ever read "Hung" by Scott Poulson-Bryant? I think you might find it an interesting read. You seem like the kinda' brotha that could handle it...
PS: I look at myself too...lol

@travel d... i don't think that any show should be sanctioned but if you are dish out the dirt in the hood dish out your dirt too

i don't want to get too explicit but it's stuff going on in their communities as well

@don... the wire does expose some corporate and political curruption but the scale isn't balanced

ghettos don't create themselves

and thanx for the support dawg

@i generalized too much concerning bet

they have some good programming like american gangster and beef

sugar is aa drug you know, it does cause the body to act differntly

i don't know if ishould have put the naked thing in thier though

some things you might need to keep to yourself

@miss y... i just read a brief synopsis of the book

interesting material

the stereotype is both good and bad

but i think that most women are hip to the myth

in a documentary called "ethnic notions" by a brilliant director named marlon riggs he states that the media's portrayl of blacks has always been rooted in the stereotypes that black people are ugly, savage and are happy servants

this stereotype helps to promote the racist belief that black males are over sexualized savage beasts

thus following right in line with white supremacist thinking

you should really check out the piece

sorry if i got too serious
